About Us...

Westiewares was born out of a single
idea – to combine a love of Westies
with the desire to assist Westies in
need through Westie Rescue.
Every
hand-painted item sold through
Westiewares.com benefits Westie
Rescue efforts and WestieMed, Inc.,
a non-profit organization dedicated
to helping Westies with special
medical needs that might otherwise
make them unadoptable. All profits
from the unique, hand-painted and
customized items sold on
Westiewares.com go directly to
assist these two worthy causes.
Ordering through Westiewares.com
means you get a customized,
life-like portrait of your favorite
Westie, hand-painted from your
favorite Westie photograph.
Each
portrait is hand-painted on the
glassware of your choice from our
extensive selection of wine glasses,
goblets, suncatchers, hurricane
lamps, candle holders and a lot, lot
more. Or you can choose from our
Westie gallery for hand-painted
glass items that are ready to buy.
Either way, you’ll wind up with a
beautiful Westie, hand-painted on
glass that is oven fired and
hand-washable – a unique way to
create an affordable and lasting
tribute to that special Westie in
your life.
But in
the end, it is the Westies who need
a second chance at life who will
benefit most.
The
artist, Carol Sanger, is a regional
Westie Rescue representative for the
Westie Club of America, covering
southern Ohio, Indiana and Kentucky.
She lives in a converted Cincinnati
horse barn along with her four
Westies – Ditto, Trio, Riley and
Trouble – and several other Westie
wannabees.
The
inspiration for Westiewares.com,
however, was Sanger’s first Westie,
a sweet little soul named Kippy.
Kippy, who died in 2003 at the age
of 16, was a pet store dog – marked
down for a quick post-holidays sale
in 1988. Unknowingly, that little
4-month-old puppy was Sanger’s first
rescued Westie, but definitely not
her last!
Through Kippy, Sanger came to know
and love this special breed. It was
Kippy who led her to become more
involved with other Westie lovers,
and eventually to join the West
Highland White Terrier Club of
Indiana, where she volunteered to
help with Westie Rescue efforts.
Ultimately, her desire to combine a
love for Westies with a love for
painting led to the creation of
Westiewares.com.
“It’s
a meaningful way that I can
contribute,” Sanger says. “By
helping to fund Westie Rescue and WestieMed, I hope we can come closer
to our goal of ensuring that every
Westie finds his or her forever
home, where the love they give so
freely will always be returned.
These homeless babies deserve
nothing less.”
